Brand Visibility Measurement Update — ChatGPT Results Now Track Its Current Answer Environment

We refreshed the ChatGPT measurement baseline to match recent changes in how ChatGPT builds answers. ChatGPT results from October 9 onward should not be compared directly with earlier ones. Gemini and Perplexity measurement is unchanged.

In early October, ChatGPT changed the environment in which it builds answers for everyday users. Because Brand Visibility Check and Competitor Comparison measure against what someone simply using each service actually gets back, we have refreshed the ChatGPT measurement baseline to match.

What changed

  • The questions we ask ChatGPT are the same; only the answer environment now matches current ChatGPT.
  • Gemini and Perplexity measurement is unchanged.

How this affects your results

  • ChatGPT results for the same site may differ from before, because the set of brands that appear in answers changes.
  • Your overall score and grade may move by as much as the ChatGPT result changes.
  • Do not compare directly with results from before October 9. Compare results from October 9 onward, reading the trend across two or three measurements.

FAQ

Is Competitor Comparison on the same baseline? Yes. Brand Visibility Check and Competitor Comparison use the same measurement engine, so both were updated on the same day.

My dashboard trend looks broken on October 9. That happens when you compare across the day the baseline changed. Once measurements from October 9 onward accumulate, you can read the trend on the new baseline.
